Latest News - Updated 25 April 2013

The supporters club is likely to be running a coach to the friendly match at Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday 24 July 2013.   There are no ticket details or bus times confirmed as yet and it may be a couple of weeks before these details are available.

Season ticket renewal letters are in the process of being issued and, if you have not yet received your letter, it should arrive very soon.   Anyone that is NOT renewing, can you please let Andy know immediately as he has a couple of people that are interested in buying a season ticket for next season.

Wee Jimmy's Blog
Wee Jimmy Description:
I have always loved Rangers, in sickness and in health, down broad and narrow streets. Although I have always lived a long way from Glasgow, my dad hails from those parts and he unwittingly passed the bug on to me.
I can feel as fairweather as anyone when things are going against us but that will never change the way I feel about my club. As the song says, 'there's not a team live the Glasgow Rangers - no not one and there never shall be one'.

Many of you will be interested to know of a new book concerning our much belov'd football club that is about to hit the shelves.

'It's Off To The Match' charts the journey of Duncan Whitelaw, a Rangers fan of many years, and stretches back to when he began supporting the club in the 1960s. As is highlighted by the author himself, Duncan is not a pundit or celebrity but decided to put his memories into print simply to tell a common man's story of what it means to support a club like Rangers.

Please take the time to visit the book's promotional website, www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk, which has an excellent overview of some of Duncan's memories - it's well worth a look. The book retails at £11.99 and is available via paypal on the website.

Boy am I relieved that Rangers beat Linfield this afternoon. Not so much because that first pre-season victory always gives 'The People' something to shout about after the summer break, but more because MY DAD hasn't shut up his moanin' and greetin' ever since the defeat to Sportfreunde Lotte in Germany ten or so days ago.

Two further defeats followed, despite a good second half against Bayer Leverkusen, as did several worried phone calls from Prentice Snr to let off some steam as to the fate of Super Ally's Army in the forthcoming campaign. So thank you, Gers, for winning relatively convincingly in that 'second home' in Ulster - the call I've just had was much more upbeat, and was accompanied with the pleasing news that the club has agreed a fee with Villa that could see the return of one Carlos 'Ugly Betty' Cuellar.

Tired of looking at all the different angles that point from a seemingly disappointing start to pre-season, not to mention the paltry single signing thus far, I like everyone else am glad that the team has gotten off the mark and that a few new bodies might shortly be on their way to G51. With a bit of strengthening and a positive start in the league, I think this could be a decent season for the boys in blue and I hope that everyone is looking forward to another year of travelling to Ibrox with the HTB as much as I am.

For those of you going to Blackpool in the week, have a great time and do us proud and I'll see you all on the Hearts bus next Saturday. WATP.

Just thought I'd write a wee note after tonight's marvellous win at Killie, one that could define our season.

I managed to watch the game via the web and it perhaps summed up our season - not always pleasing on the eye but gutsy and the team got the goals required to win the game. Tonight's victory comes after a similarly workmanlike performance against St Mirren on Saturday. I, and the rest of the stadium, might have had a bout of brown trousers syndrome when the Saints took a shock lead but we stormed back, equilising within a couple of minutes, and went on to win fairly comfortably in the end.

No-one can fault the effort and performances of our boys this season during difficult circumstances and, in my humble opinion, HM herself should be saying "arise, Sir Walter" in the 2011 New Year's Honours List for the boss's stewardship during such troubled times as well as his contribution to British football in general over the years. Back in September/October I was fearing the worst given our financial situation, but the squad has found incredible inner strength and team spirit to put the Gers within touching distance of retaining the title. Almost as pleasing as the team's performances has been the loyalty shown by the members of this great RSC. Early on this season it looked as though things might not go as we might have hoped, but the team has rewarded us for lots of full buses and great attendances at matches, so well done everyone (even you Sebo).

We now need only six wins to retain the title...let's try to do it in record time eh! Mon the Bears!

I think most will agree that Rangers' start to 2010 has been a little underwhelming. A good point at Parkhead in the derby was followed by three tricky matches against Hamilton in which at least four of our players picked up injuries (will we ever have a fully-fit squad??) and we face a tough game against Hearts on Saturday with a paper-thin squad to choose from.

And today we have had the worrying news that Aston Villa and Birmingham have put in bids for Kris 'the Goal Machine' Boyd to join them in the summer, although he also has a contract extension from our very own Gers on the table. I think the vast majority of fans hope that Boyd re-signs for Rangers and goes on to break more records - who knows, he could one day better the scoring exploits of one Ally McCoist MBE - but only time will tell. So we must do the only thing we can do - keep the faith!

One bit of good news is that a Harrogate True Blues lapel badge will be available for purchase on the way home from Saturday's match, priced at just £2. I will be doing the rounds on the coach with Stephen 'Sebo' Reid, who has kindly offered to model the badge so you can all see just how good it looks (even on him). So, even if Saturday's result doesn't go our way (I'm trying to remain optimistic despite our injury crisis - honest), at least you will have something to put a smile on your face!
