Simply the Best

Saturday's match against Hearts must rank as the disappointment of the season - to be so far in front of them, playing well and no hint of danger then drop two points was incredible.   However, it proves the old adage, it's not over until the fat lady sings (or in the case of HTBs, until the the tamborines play)!!

To then watch our East End rivals struggle to get a draw at Tannadice rubbed salt in the wounds - we'll all be on tranquilisers by the end of May.

I'm relieved that there's now a two week break until SPL action resumes - a chance to recharge the batteries and prepare for the final push.   Despite the anguish of recent games, we are still in the mix and we have to keep believing!

Can all HTB members and friends please note that our end of season function will be held at Farnley Sports and Social Club in Leeds on Saturday 27 June 2009 starting at 7pm - admission will be £5 for members and £10 for non-members.   Tickets will be available on the bus to the next home match on 11 April.   If you want any tickets, let John or Andy know as soon as possible.

I hope The Captain has calmed down - Walter's staying for now and there's still lots to play for - the players and management all let us down against Inverness - it was as inept a performance as I've witnessed for a long time!

The HTB bus for Hampden on Sunday leaves 15 minutes earlier than normal - 7.30 from Leeds.   There will be pre-match refreshment and entertainment for those that want it at the 20 Social Club in Rutherglen.   Match tickets have been hard to get but thanks to all members and friends that have helped me to obtain tickets for our regulars.   Still trying but they're difficult to find!

The end of season do has now been confirmed for Saturday 27 June 2009 at Farnley Sports And Social Club in Leeds.   It is an excellent venue that can cater for 300.   Usual format - band booked - tickets will be on sale shortly.   Let's pullout the stops out and make it a great event.   Already had interest from friends in Scotland that want to come down.

The bus for Hearts on Saturday 21 March is filling up fast so if you're name is not on the list, let John or Andy know as soon as possible.

The Captain

Well that's me finished on here till Walter decides to do the decent thing and go, once again when we need a big result he has proved he is not the man for the job.

Thank you and goodbye.

Simply the Best

It's game on now in all three domestic competitions so it's time to dust ourselves down and give the team our full backing all the way to the end of May.

We start on Wednesday night with a home match against Inverness - no bus going but a good contingent of HTB members will be there.   Hopefully, we will bag the three points and keep the momentum going - a few goals will help as well.   I expect Walter and the coaching team to be focussing on having more of a cutting edge - I think there's a good chance of young Aaron starting.

Next up is the Scottish Cup tie against Hamilton.   Bus running as normal and a good few have already got their name down to go - seats and tickets available, so let Andy or John know as soon as possible if you want to go.   We should be too strong for them based on last Saturday's game but we run the risk of being complacent as we've beaten them four times already this season.   Again, I expect Walter to freshen up the attack - any niggling injuries will be rested with the CIS Cup Final coming up the following week.

The bus will be running to the Final but tickets will be a major problem.   Those with season tickets and signed up for the Continuous Credit Card Scheme will get tickets but the Club allocation will only be 2 - we have prepared an attendance list to allocate them - we will make every effort to get more tickets but it's a long-shot!

Planning is under way for the end of season function.   Venue is a Sports Club in Leeds and the likely date is Saturday 20 June, subject to the availability of the planned entertainment.   Will confirm soon and get ticket sales underway.

Finally, I want to make you all aware of an initiative that is under way as a tribute to well-known Rangers fan, Garry Lynch, who sadly passed away recently.   His family and friends in conjunction with Rangers are aiming to make the Rising Stars draw on Saturday 11 April a world record prize fund.   Garry was a great supporter of the youth teams and if we can make the Rising Stars the market leader, it will be a great legacy to Garry's memory.   More details to follow but get your wallets ready!!
